Talking Timer — Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 September 2026
Talking Timer does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.
What the app cannot do
The app does not request the INTERNET permission. It is
therefore technically incapable of sending any information off your device,
to the developer or to anyone else. There are no analytics, no crash
reporting, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs, and no accounts.
What is stored on your device
The app saves your chosen work and rest durations and your three settings (Repeat sets, Voice callouts, Keep screen on) in Android's standard private app storage. This never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Permissions and why they are used
- Notifications — to show the ongoing timer notification with Pause and Stop buttons while a timer is running.
- Run foreground service — to keep the countdown running and speaking when the screen is off or the app is in the background.
- Prevent device from sleeping — to keep the countdown accurate while the screen is off.
- Vibrate — to buzz at the end of each interval.
- Ignore battery optimisations — optional, and only ever requested when you tap the notice in the app. Some devices terminate even a foreground service, which would stop the timer mid-workout.
Text-to-speech
Spoken callouts are produced by the text-to-speech engine already installed on your device, typically Google's. The app passes short strings such as "thirty seconds" to that engine. Handling of that text is governed by the privacy policy of the text-to-speech engine you have installed, not by this app.
Children
The app is a general-purpose fitness utility and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "last updated" date.
